April is leaving us and with it, Coachella does it too. Were you able to attend the festival? Great, happy for you. Weren’t you able to attend it? Well, you are not the only one. Maybe next year? That’s what we say every year. But, what’s exactly is Coachella and why everyone is so desperate to go?
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, located in the Inland Empire’s Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. It was co-founded by Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen in 1999, and is organized by Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of AEG Live. The event features musical artists from many genres of music, including rock, indie, hip-hop, and electronic dance music, as well as art installations and sculptures.
Today we will call it the most ”glamourous music festival” out there. And, especially this year everyone started to express their disappoint about a festival that for some people isn’t about the music anymore. So, let’s start from MY point of you.
A few years ago I discovered the festival thanks to Twitter and Tumblr and by the simple fact that every celebrity was going. And of course I couldn’t wait to see WHAT they were wearing and of course, as a person that loves music, I was thrilled to know the performances too. Since bloggers and influencers started to attend the festival brands started to attend events before and after the festival hours. Is it a bad thing? I don’t think so, we are talking about exclusive parties were celebrities and ””normal people”” get to meet and have fun while promoting a brand so for me there is no problem with that.
The talking this year was especially about the number of people going just to take photos in their fancy clothes just because they are PAID to do so, now let’s think about that. I’ve seen people from all over the world that had the opportunity, thanks to Instagram or their blog, to attend such an amazing Festival, something that probably they couldn’t be able to do without a brand to take them there. Now yeah probably a few of them maybe didn’t even know the performances and were there just to have fun and take incredible photos BUT most of them were there to enjoy good music with good friends and why not take incredible photos? I’m speaking for me but I’m such a big fan of that festival and if someday my blog or Instagram could take me there it would be the craziest and amazing thing ever. Now… what do you think about it?
